2003 Internationals
Registration Information
Plans for the 2003 Internationals at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in August are being finalized. It will be a different experience from what we have become accustomed to in the last several years. We will be racing in the ocean, at a place that is a "hot bed" of yacht racing. ABYC regularly hosts national and world championships for many fleets. Two members of the club are former Geary 18 skippers, racing at Mission Bay in the 60's. They are excited about us coming this summer. We will have an experienced race committee and a great committee boat and two chase boats. We are looking for a big turnout so make plans to joins us.
Concerning reservations, Long Beach is a popular summer tourist spot. You will want to reserve a place early. Here are Mitch's recommendations:
Camp: Golden Shore RV Resort 1-800-668-3581
$232 per week - does offer 10% Good Sam Discount,
5.2 miles from the yacht club.
Hotel: Seaport Marina Hotel 1-800-434-8451
$69 plus tax per night (1 or 2 beds) - does have a weekly
rate. 2.6 miles from the yacht club, near market, laundry,
restaurants, etc.
Call early to get a room with a view of the bay.
Motels: Motel 6, Super 8
